The Indian subcontinent is a flourishing place for technology but it also has its cultures, religions and languages keeping a tab on progress. The cultural barriers keep most people in India in a shell with most things personal – like sex for example. Indians shy away from talking about sex or anything remotely close to sex. The effect of such a closed culture is that most people don’t know a whole lot about sexuality and intimacy before they get married. This is showing up in strange ways online. The Google suggest feature suggests to users what to look for when you type into the Google search box. One such search – “removing” gave out some very interesting results. Come on guys, open up the conversation. You will not be embarrassing the whole nation.

This search goes a long way in showing what effects a closed culture has on individuals who are “looking” for details about things their religions call taboo. In fact some high priests in India are being tried for sexual misconduct. Sigh.
