meat
British scientist Dr. Philip Thornton with the Livestock Research Institute in Nairobi has suggested that artificial meat may be one of two “wild cards” that could change global meat and milk production. This meat would be grown in vats and may be necessary as the global population is expected to reach 9 billion by 2050. One in seven people in the world currently do not get enough protein and energy in their diet, and the need to increase global food supplies 70 percent in the next 40 years means that scientists and policymakers need to come up with novel solutions in order to feed everyone adequately.
